Where to Eat and What to Eat When in Singapore

How can you complete your experience of a city, unless of course you have tried some of their cuisines. Singapore Cuisines has influences from not only Indian origin, but Chinese and Malaysian culture. In addition a number of its cuisines are from
western origins. This is mostly because of its rich history and the present day busy port status of Singapore, which brings people from various parts of the world.

Telok Ayer Market at central blvd and Newton Food Center at Newton near Orchard Road is the best place to try out local cuisines and that too at cheap prices.

Some of the best foods in Singapore are:

• Char Kway Teow - A noodle like dish
• Ban mian – Noodles served with Meat Balls
• Bah Kut The - A pork-based soup
• Curry Puff – Flaky Pastries served with Potato, Chicken and Egg
• Mee Soto – Spicy Chicken Noodle Soup
• Chicken Rice – Chicken served in Rice
• Acar – Vegetable and Fruits pickled in an Indian Way
• Roti Parata – Fried Dough
• Shami Kabab – Delicious meat in spicy way
• Singapore Sling – Made of Gin, Cherry, brandy and Benedictine

There are other good restaurants too, but the best places are the all the above as well as the Hawkers market where you will be served authentic food of every way. Try to experiment when you are there instead of sticking to foods that you already know.
